We launched an interactive dashboard that monitors the number and type of circular jobs in the city, making key data accessible for the first time.
We identified 69 local success stories in a collection of circular case studies to inspire and demonstrate what's possible.
We delivered a set of practical recommendations to help the city's ongoing efforts to grow its circular economy.
As a direct result, the City of Gamagori launched its Circular City Action Plan, providing grants for new circular businesses and raising public awareness.fund of 125 million DKK (€15.5 million) was established to accelerate circular transition in Danish companies.
The city also launched five pioneering demonstration projects: Toyota Connected Corporation’s City Mobility, Curelabo’s mandarin pruning upcycling, NGK Insulators’ CO2 Creation and Connection, Daiseki’s green power generation, and Sunrose’s sustainable wedding dresses.
The gap: No way to connect data to decisions
Gamagori's leadership understood the importance of the circular economy for its future, but it lacked the specific data and insights needed to make informed decisions. There was no clear picture of existing circular jobs or which sectors had the most potential for growth. The city was eager to act but needed a practical way to connect its economic goals with its sustainability targets.
What we delivered: No way to connect data to decisions
In collaboration with Harch Inc. and the City of Gamagori, Circle Economy mapped the city's circular jobs to provide a data-driven roadmap for action. We connected the concept of circularity directly to economic growth and job creation, visualising our key findings through an interactive dashboard. We also provided a comprehensive collection of local case studies and clear, practical recommendations. This work gave the city the foundation it needed to create new employment opportunities and launch its official Circular City Action Plan.CGR Denmark provided a clear baseline of national circularity, highlighted priority sectors, and offered a roadmap for change. By bringing stakeholders together and presenting evidence-based recommendations, the report helped build political support, align organisations, and drive tangible circular initiatives across the country.
