The end of 2014 has almost come, and we, the Circle Economy team, can hardly believe what happened in just 365 days. Since December is the perfect time to reflect on look forward, we here present you some of our highlights and ambitions - and invite you to share yours with us!2014: A thriving teamComparing last year’s Christmas party to this year’s easily shows one of the main successes of Circle Economy. We started 2014 with five full time employees, and now have thirteen, plus seven interns. It is amazing to see our multidisciplinary multinational team thrive!2014: Changing the rules of the gameBecoming a member of Circle Economy means taking a step towards a circular economy. And even though we sometimes complain that the transition to a new economy is not going fast enough, we are proud of the steps we are taking. One great example is the Circular Economy Challenge we organize with Rabobank. In the challenge we develop circular business models with nine of their clients, simultaneously learning what it takes to make the business models work in practice within the companies as well as for the Rabobank. Want to know more? Contact Ben!Because we recognize that decision making for a circular economy is still a challenge, we have developed the ACT tool, that helps making financially, socially and ecologically sound decisions for products that are at the end of their (current) lifecycle. Want to know more? Contact Jurn!Lastly (although we would like to share much more examples), we want to highlight our Textiles Program. Together with key partners in the textiles industry, we are developing and establishing a commercial and scalable model for closing the loop for post-consumer textiles in the EU. Want to know more? Contact Helene!2014: New collaborationsWe believe that collaboration is key for a circular economy. And we also believe, we should put our money where our mouth is. Therefore, we are very proud that we were able to launch the RACE coalition, with whom we are going to transform the Netherlands into an international hotspot for the circular economy. Thanks ClickNL, MVO Nederland, De Groene Zaak, Het Groene Brein, and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment for making this happen! Moreover, we would like to take this opportunity to announce just how proud we are that Stientje van Veldhoven joined our Circle of Consciousness, and Herman Wijffels joined the board of our cooperative. And then, for 2015, these are some of the things we are looking forward to. 2015: Coming soon to a bookstore near youWe are proud to announce that we have been working hard on a book that shows the new generation of innovative business leaders how best to face the complex material, energy, social, natural and ethical challenges posed by our currently linear take-make-waste economy.2015: Incubating circular start-upsIn 2015 we will launch WHEEL, a vibrant and powerful circular ecosystem fostering start-ups in the Netherlands. Currently, we are looking for ambitious partners, sponsors and associates who want to embrace the circular economy. Ask Shyaam about the opportunities for joining our quest!2015: Netherlands as a circular hotspotWorking towards the Dutch EU Presidency in 2016, where circular economy will be one of the main themes, we are working on making the Netherlands a recognized global frontrunner for circular economy, by creating tangible examples and making circular economy a mainstream paradigm. Stay tuned!Picture: wikipedia
